Our special keyrings

Instead of just asking for money, we wanted to create something that would be recognisable, useful and, of course, sellable. Keyrings in the shape of our special emblem seemed to be a good idea, and it was a matter of finding the right person to make them. Deciding it would be great to support somebody in need, Leanne was off to the robots. The first person to approach her, turned out to be the man for the job. He made a sample, and we were in business.
The keyrings have been a "hand to mouth" scenario. We buy; then sell like mad, and as soon as the money has been collected we are on the phone to Chris, "keyrings pronto pronto!". Chris is the man behind our keyrings. Sometimes he works through the night making every single house himself.

If you would like to buy keyrings, please contact us.

The man behind our keyrings

Chris is 23 and lives in Dunoon, an informal settlement near Table View. Before he started making Home of Hope beaded keyrings for a living, he was sleeping on the floor of a shack with many other people. He is now able to afford a bed and a place that he shares with one other person. Chris is a happy man who is very appreciative of the work Home of Hope has given him.

Home of Hope has also created hope for Chris. Not only did his living conditions improve, but now he can also start saving money to help him find his 18 year old sister to care for her. After all, it is no coincidence that his name is Chris, the name of the first baby at Home of Hope, and the reason for the establishment of our organisation.
